I hope it’s as good as it sounds

And I hope the weather will be half decent too come to think of it.

What am I on about? Well this coming Sunday there is going to be Medieval fun day in Youghal, Co. Cork. From the official poster:

“Step back in time with a replay of a Public Murder Trial in Youghal in 1797 and Battle Siege re-enactment featuring Medieval Bloodthirsty warriors.” [sic]

and:

“Merriment abounds with Archery Display, Spear fighting Siege, Maid Marion’s Craft Display and Medieval Traders Row.” [sic]

Admission is free too so if you have nothing better to do on Sunday the 26th then it might be worth popping down to Youghal to take a look. It begins at 12 midday and finishes at 6 . The setting for it is in the public gardens of St. Mary’s College which is overlooked by the medieval walls of the town, which are among the best preserved in the country too by the way.

If anyone is interested in going let me know. I should be there around 3pm as soon as the Grand Prix is finished.

Don’t know if I’ll be there, but say hello for me to the “Maid Marion” of Maid Marion’s Craft Display. His name is Darren and he wants to know where you got the info so he can complain to someone.

I’ll say hello for you if I see him/her for you.

I must have had my head in the sand recently because the first that I have heard about it was when the local newsletter dropped into the letterbox this morning.

It should be a good day out. They seem to have it very well organised as well. I just hope that the rain stays away. I’m really looking forward to it because finally I have something with which to put my new camera through its paces.

Yay ! I’ve just had a conversation with my friend – we are planning to go to Kinsale to visit a fort so we would be in Youghal on Sunday… :]

Cool. That would be Charles Fort in Kinsale. It’s pretty impressive in it’s own right. Kinsale town not so much. Too many millionaires!

I reckon (hope!), that what is planned here for Sunday should be well worth it. Let me know if you will definitely be here. I’ll be around after the Grand Prix of course. ;) Kinsale is about 45 miles or 72km from Youghal and the road is half decent too.

I’m in Youghal right now. The weather is great. I’ll be here for a while where this Medieval Fun Day takes place… My phone number is 0xxxxxxx – the battery is low so the only contact would be via message as I need to switch my mobile on from time to time.
