Past, present and future

Past Present and Future

Some info on the above photo for you. The picture was taken on Wednesday last, the 19th Sept. That is herself standing by the round tower in Ardmore, Co. Waterford. I actually didn’t realise how good the picture was until last night when I was cataloging them.

Among the reasons that I really like this picture is the contrast in colours. The rolling green and brown of the ground contrasting with the bright blue of the sky. Then of course there is Sylwia’s bright yellow hoodie. You can see the sun is coming from the left and it is by pure chance that I took the picture just as she looked up towards it. There is a bit of over exposure but I think in this case it worked in my favour.

Before taking the picture I was looking up at the contrails from the planes in the sky and I was attempting to match them up with the tower to form a cross of sorts. By the time I got myself into position some of the contrails had faded but nonetheless I think I got what I was trying for and more that I wasn’t.

If you are wondering about the title: “Past” is for the monuments, “Present” for when the picture was taken and “Future” because Sylwia is 7 months pregnant. :)

The tower looks a bit dark but maybe thats only because of my screen. use a polarising filter next time to make the sky less bright or were you using one already?

It’s a bit dark alright now that I think of it. I was playing around with the various settings on the camera and I think that when I took that picture it was in the “Natural” light setting.

I think I might play around with it in Photoshop and see what I can make of it.

    Hi Gaye!

No worries :) Thanks for your comment. It is an exciting time alright but a nervous one too. Overall we just can’t wait.

Sorry if you have written this before somewhere, I have not had the chance to read previous posts on your blog but do either of you know if it’s a boy or a girl?
These days many of my friends and people I know prefer not to find out earlier. I think that’s exciting! Some prefer to know so they can buy mostly pink or blue I guess. Pfft.

    Hi Gaye,

We don’t know if it is a boy or a girl yet. I always thought I would rather not know until the birth but after the first scan, if the midwife asked if we wanted to know I would have said yes!

Sylwia was the same but she changed her mind and asked during her last check up two weeks ago. I was mortified but the doctor wasn’t able to tell because of the way baby was turned :)

There might be some sense in knowing beforehand but I like the excitement now of not knowing. Now thinking of names! That is a whole different story!

Oh the baby was turned! See there are signs that tell you and Sylwia not to find out. Firstly, the midwife didn’t ask you if you wanted to know, hence not giving you the chance to say yes. Secondly, your baby turned around covering private parts, I think he/she will have a great sense of humour!!! I don’t know you guys but I am so very excited for you both! Please give Sylwia my best wishes, although it might sound strange:
“, there is this person, relatively new in blogsphere, a cyber space character really and goes with the name Gaye (add, not sure how to pronounce it really), said to give you her best wishes.”

I certainly hope he or she will have a great sense of humour. It might make up for the lack of my own ;) Not long now until we find out. only 7 more weeks!

Oops! Sorry Gaye, I forgot to say that I will pass on your wishes! Thanks a million :)
