Welcome back!

The setup above only survived for a few weeks. I decided to move my site and DB over on to my Dell Poweredge 2800 since I don't have as much free time at the moment :)

I was using IIS for a site that I was hosting temporarily but it has since been moved on to a colocated server.

Why do you need IIS? Let me see... Integration with Lotus? :]
What about changing some hardware to virtual machines? You could save some money on electricity...

Dan - It might seem a little faster because the reverse proxy is caching requests too.

It gets nice and warm in here and saves having to run a heater in here alright. Those are just the web related servers. There is one file server, two workstations and my MacBook running here as well!

Electricity isn't too bad either. The room here is on its own circuit. I only use one LCD and occassionally one monnitor. Works out about €2 - €3 per day.

It does seem slightly faster. though that could be a pigment of my imagination.

does having all those servers on mean you don't have to bother with central heating or any of that?

Cheers Donncha, Good point about the DB server.

Thanks AJ, I still have the HP9000 but it is only turned on occassionally because of the noise!

Grannymar that's a good point. Of course when baby comes he or she will be the number one priority so it's important that I get my setup here right!

And to think, all my sites are sitting on two small little VPSes in some datacenter in the US.

Nice setup, although you'll need failover on the db server!
