Telephone 419?

Just got a phone call from some chap in London, English accent and a genuine London phone number. Requested me by name too. Apparently he said that he was representing a company who deal with property investors and my name and phone number appeared on a list that they had been supplied with. Sadly I didn’t get the whole company name but it was something like 3kg properties or the like.

My home phone number is supposed to be on a ‘no cold call list’ which I duly informed my caller. He apologised and he sounded sincere about it too. He asked me was the information that he has that claimed that I was a property investor correct and I told him that at present my bank account is at -€417 until I get my social welfare payment tomorrow and when I do receive my dole jobseekers allowance it will then be -€213. I could almost sense his disappointment.

Somehow I think I wasn’t the first person that he called today who was not a property speculator. I think they will be requesting a refund from the shysters who more than likely just supplied them with names and phone numbers pulled at random from various Irish telephone directories.

Update – I just ran a search on the telephone number that my caller used and the approximate area where they called from is here.
