My first icon
I’ve been playing around with Photoshop over the last couple of days. It’s a monumental application and with a rather steep learning curve. For me at least, I find CS3 is no where near as user friendly as any of the earlier editions.
Nevertheless, rather than use it for processing and editing photos, I decided to try to create something new. I was helped greatly by a tutorial I stumbled upon but I’m pretty pleased with the final result.
Now if only I can figure out a use for it! I use the Crystal theme icons over on my main site so I think maybe now I might try to change over to some home grown ones.

I do agree with the slow learning curve with Photoshop CS3, but if you try other applications from the Adobe Creative Suite ie. Premiere Pro, After Effects etc. you will find they all carry the same GUI and the round trip editing is more familiar and easier.
Cheers Kieran, I have the rest of the suite on my macbook. I’m busy at the moment trying to figure out how to apply a globe effect for my icons. Also I’m going to have to restart the ones above to ensure that I get all the dimensions precise.
Strangely, CS3 won’t allow me to export in SVG format. Must try to hunt down a filter.

I have and I use it quite a lot on my Linux workstation. Problem is that I find the interface almost completely unusable.
Ironically the mac version of any Adobe product is similar in appearance to the Gimp. I’m not a big fan of the interface model they use. I’d much rather everything in one window, tool bars etc.
I’d agree with you there.
The UI is not very intuitive compared to PS. I’m still not well up enough on it to know if you can dock the toolbars in one window.
If I get into the photography properly, I’ll probably go with PS, primarily because it’s what the boards.ie community generally use, so I’ll have a good knowledge base to call on.

years ago i made the start of an icon theme can i add this one to it pls cause i was missing a good folder icon
