Domain name has been renewed and phone and net bills paid. I’m going to be here for at least two more months. Happy days.

I started today off a bit like Grandad but after getting a few bits and pieces out of the way I was inspired once again and decided to tackle the unearthly mess that is my computer room. If any of you were trying to access this blog over the past two hours and found it was unavailable – this was the reason.

My aim was to try to get a bit more organisation into the layout of the room as those of you who read this that have seen it can testify, it was an absolute nightmare. Also I wanted to retire a few older machines to make way for one of the Sun Blade 2000s that will be in operation. At this stage I have half the room tidy and the other half? Well that’s where all the rubbish from the tidy half has gone for the moment!

And semi ok after. I still have to clear out the area underneath the bench:

From left to right above: The two Sun machines (one on right is where this blog is located), IIS & Exchange Server, mail server, Windows 2003 active directory controller on top of the UPS. (it looks dodgy but it’s a home built P4!) and the Poweredge 2800.

On top of the Poweredge which you can’t see from the photo are the router and switch. All the Cat5 from the trunking ends up there. To the left of the monitor is the messy area of which I am certainly not goint to show a photo of yet. But over there is my main PC a. Also not in the photos are the reverse proxy, the HP 9000 and my firewall. There is a full list of my machines over at this page on my wiki.
