It’s bloody started already!
It’s the middle of October. The 16th of October to be precise and I’ve just seen a flaming christmas ad on the T.V. Sadly it was for a funiture supplier so it seems they haven’t bothered taking any notice of Grandads Open Letter to them.
It seems that the marketing droids are determined to Americanise all our holiday seasons. A brochure or Tesco arrived in the door the other day advertising halloween costumes! What the hell next?
Instead of pfaffing with all the other useless boring stuff that the E.U. get up to why can’t they ban christmas advertising until at least two weeks before the day itself? Most of us are depressed enough as a result of the recent budget and have a lot less money and now, in the middle of October – someone is determined to depress us even more by advertising for christmas already.
*Sigh*
They started a few days ago, and of course the childrens channels have been advertising rubbish for the last month or so. God help us for the next two and a half months!
I know
At least we won’t have it too bad this year as himself will only be 13 months old. I’m dreading 10 years or so that will be coming after!
Although maybe with a bit of luck christmas advertising will have been banned by then?
Chance would be a fine thing..
maybe things are going in the right direction a couple of years ago i was already seeing christmas ads at the start of august.
when the kiddies are gone back to school the build up to christmas starts.
its destroying christmas really but i’m sure someday people will get sick of it and there will be another economic downturn because that year nobody will bother buying anything for it. in 10 years everyone might be living a completely web-based life. never leaving their apartment. christmas over IP
Happy Crimbo 2010 – need to get in there first!
Thank’s Quickroute! You are most certainly the first
