Gardai tripped up by Polish Driving Licence

Some one with the Polish name “Prawo Jazdy” managed to rack up over 50 motoring offences by June 2007 and finally the Gardai have managed to figure out who “he/she” is.

“Prawo Jazdy” is Polish for “Driving Licence”

Apparently unlike our paper licences, the Polish one is a credit card sized ID type jobby. With “Prawo Jazdy” written in big letters along the top which our unwitting Gardai took to be the owners first and last names!

Legendary! More here in The Register. And a bit more here in the Indo.

    That’s a good one!

Something tells me that there’ll be a new module on International Driving Licenses added to the course in Templemore – right between ordering the correct breakfast roll and using the Blues & Twos to avoid red lights.

My Polish friend had similar situation but it was over 2 years ago…

The weird thing is that they never take “Prawo Jazdy” ID number from the card…

    Wasn’t me.

Assuming the cops got it right even 90% of the time, they must have been looking at quite a few prawo jazdys…
