There were road works over at the Waterford side of the River Blackwater last week. I was stopped at some temporary traffic lights. Although I’m a Cork man I live across the river from ‘The County’ and my local pub is colloquially referred to as ‘The Waterford Embassy.’ So I suppose it is hardly surprising when I say that I hope Waterford get the result that they have waited so long for in todays All Ireland Hurling Final. Last year around the exact same time a whole load of seagulls started circling around Youghal. I’ve just taken dozens of photos. It was the 24th of August last year so they are only three days off so maybe there is a pattern?

I took a series of photos looking back into Youghal the same day that I took the photo of the lighthouse. The series of photos I took would make a great panoramic photo I thought and indeed I think they did. What do you think? Click for the bigger version and scroll to the right. [...]

In my last post I asked what the concrete things on the rocks are in the lower left corner of the photo. Well wonder no more! They are for keeping a ladder in place for when the walls are being whitewashed!

Witnessed this scene the other day. I had forgotten just how bad the main street in Youghal used to be for traffic until they finally built the bypass. Scenes like the one below could be witnessed several times a day.
